Fight killer diseases with nuts

Eating handful of raw nuts each day could help fighting a variety of deadly diseases according to researchers. Nuts are considered to be “superfoods” because they are high in healthy fats, protein, and fiber, and they posses health-boosting, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

Researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology studied over 800,000 people. They found that just one ounce of nuts per day (about 1/3 cup)—especially walnuts and pecans—can reduce the risk of heart disease by 30% and cancer by 15%. Interestingly, there was little evidence that eating more than one ounce of nuts a day provided any additional benefit.
