Ozone: The overlooked medicine

Half of my patients come to me in good health and want to take advantage of advances made in the field of anti-aging medicine. They want a doctor that can enhance the body’s innate healing powers and help them live longer and maintain their vitality well into their 80’s and 90’s. I provide them with the information and therapeutic interventions they need to combat the mental and physical decline that comes with aging and help them become functionally younger. I also help slash their risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease, as these are the very diseases that are most likely to destroy any hope of living a long and healthy life.

The other half of my patients come to me with life-altering or life-threatening conditions. Some of these patients will say, “My health has been going downhill. I just don’t feel right. I’m not that old, so I should feel better. I just know something is wrong, but nobody can tell me what it is. I’ve been to some of the top specialists and have had all sorts of tests done, but nobody can figure out what is going on. I’ve had all sorts of treatment too, but nothing has helped.” These people are in need of a doctor that not only has the kind of knowledge and experience to help figure out what is going on but also has safe and effective therapies to help them fight disease and regain their health.

One of the most powerful and versatile tools for helping both types of patients is oxidative therapy—specifically, administering small and precise doses of pure, medical ozone intravenously. Ozone is oxygen with 3 atoms of oxygen. Medical ozone is a mixture of pure ozone gas (0.05-5%) and pure oxygen (95-99.95%). This form of therapy has been used for several decades in Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, and Cuba to prevent and reverse numerous diseases, combat the effects of aging, increase longevity and improve quality of life (click here). Ozone therapy is characterized by its great safety and effectiveness.

Here are some of the scientifically-documented beneficial effects of intravenous ozone:

  1. Improves circulation: Improves blood flow and transport of oxygen to the tissues by increasing the oxygen content in the blood; increasing nitric oxide production resulting in vasodilation; improving red blood cell membrane flexibility and elasticity; stimulating the release of oxygen from hemoglobin; and lowering blood viscosity (thickness) by decreasing fibrinogen and aggregation (clumping) of red blood cells and platelets.
  2. Enhances tissue repair and cellular rejuvenation: Stimulates the production of bone marrow stem cells, platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), and transfer growth factor beta 1 (TGF-beta 1).
  3. Activates the immune system: Improves the immune system’s ability to kill bacteria and viruses by activating white blood cells and stimulating the release of pro-immunity cytokines such as gamma interferon and interleukin-2.
  4. Reduces chronic/sustained oxidative stress: This is a major cause of disease and shortened lifespan. Ozone helps to neutralize free radicals that damage cell membranes, mitochondria, and DNA. It does so by stimulating the production of the body’s own antioxidants (potent free-radical scavengers), namely glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, and catalase.
  5. Reduces chronic/sustained inflammation: This is another major cause of disease and shortened lifespan. Ozone decreases pro-inflammatory arachidonic acid and prostaglandins.
  6. Improves mental clarity and combats chronic fatigue: Ozone helps accelerate the Krebs cycle, electron transport chain, and oxidative phosphorylation, which are the main cellular mechanisms for capturing energy from the food we eat and synthesizing adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is where our cells ultimately get the energy needed to perform their tasks.
  7. Improves detoxification: By oxidizing toxic compounds in the body and enhancing their elimination through the liver and kidneys.
  8. Reduces pain: By stimulating the production of endorphins and decreasing levels of oligopeptides. Endorphins are morphine-like compounds produced by the body. Oligopeptides are compounds that act on nerve endings in damaged tissues and determine the intensity of the pain response.

Comments: To improve treatment efficacy even further, intravenous ozone is often combined with ultraviolet blood irradiation (click here). Depending on the severity of the condition, a total of 20-40 treatments are needed and are administered twice weekly. Treatment takes about 30 minutes and costs $195. If purchased as a bundle of 10 treatments, the cost is $1755. That is a 10% reduction from the single-treatment price. To see a copy of the informed consent, click here.
